New families

Switching pediatricians, or choosing one for a baby on the way? Here's how to start, what to fill in, and what to expect on day one.

Book a meet-and-greet

The front of the Driftwell office: a cream cottage with a teal door, a coral bench and crape myrtles in bloom along a brick path.

Before your first visit

  1. Meet a doctor first

A free 15-minute meet-and-greet, in the office or by video. Bring questions; there's no exam and no charge.

  2. We send for the records

Sign the records release and we'll request your child's chart and shot record from the last office. It usually takes a week.

  3. Fill in the forms at home

The family packet is four short forms online. Finish them before the first visit and check-in takes a minute.

Insurance and payment

We take most major plans, including Medicaid. Call the front desk with your plan's name and we'll check it before your visit. Copays are due at check-in, and we'll set up a payment plan if you ask.

Questions new families ask

Are you taking new patients?

Yes, from newborns through age 18. Book a meet-and-greet, or go straight to a first checkup.

Can we see the same doctor every time?

For checkups, yes. For sick visits we'll book your doctor when they're free, and whoever is in that day when they aren't.

What if my child gets sick before the first visit?

Book a sick visit like any family. We'll start the chart that day and send for the old records.

Do you have evening hours?

We're open until 6 on weekdays, and the nurse line answers every evening and all weekend.

Can brothers and sisters come along?

Of course. The waiting room has books and toys, and there's room in the exam rooms.

What do we do with the old office's forms?

Bring anything you have. The records release covers the rest.
